Vintage Views Walking Tour on Thursday, August 4, 2022

Join us for a guided walking tour of downtown Petoskey. Using images from the past on specially curated Viewmaster reels, we will enjoy 90 minutes of walking and discussing Petoskey’s history.

Jane Garver, Little Traverse Historical Society Museum Executive Director, will lead our group to 12 spots downtown to compare the view then and now.

The event is limited to 12 seniors, and the cost is $5.00 per person, to be collected at the event. Free parking at the museum. Walk through the tunnel to gather at our first spot on the corner of Lake Street and Petoskey Street, kitty-corner from Shorter’s. Or park downtown and meet at the corner.

Mackinaw Area Historical Village Tour on Wednesday, August 10, 2022

Seniors take a step back in time on Wednesday, August 10 at this ever-growing village, which is home to buildings from the surrounding area dating back to the mid-1800s. The two-hour docent-led tour will take us around the grounds and into the buildings to ponder life back in the day. A suggested $5.00 donation is payable at the event. Feel free to pack a sack lunch to enjoy together under the pavilion afterward.

Directions:
From US31 and M119 take US31 north 29 miles to Mackinaw Highway. Turn left and go 2 miles to Trails End Road. Turn left and go 2.3 miles to Wilderness Park Drive. Turn right and go .7 miles to Headlands Road. Turn right into village.

Oden State Fish Hatchery Tour on Wednesday, August 31, 2022

Curious as a kid to know what goes on at a fish hatchery? Christine Steensma, Park Interpreter, will take us big kids on a free 45-minute tour, on Wednesday, August 31 at 10:00 a.m., to learn about the operation of the hatchery. After the tour, we will have the opportunity to fish at the big pond. Fishing gear is provided at no charge.

There is plenty to see and do at the hatchery. You can stroll the nature trails, experience the underground viewing chamber, and visit the train car. There is also a gift shop in the visitor center.

DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of US31 and M119, take US31 north 3.5 miles to N. Conway Road. Turn left and go 1 mile to Powers Road. Turn right and go 1 mile to S. Ayr Road. Turn right and go .3 miles. The entrance will be on the right. Pull into the first parking spots on the right.

Harris Garden Tour on Wednesday, September 14, 2022

Join North Central Michigan College President, Dr. David Roland Finley, and his wife Heidi on a free one-hour guided tour of the Harris Gardens. We will study several of the 26 magnificent sculptures on display in the campus courtyard. Dress for the outdoors. If the weather is cold or wet, the presentation will move indoors.

Consider lunch beforehand at the on-campus Iron Horse Café, or stop in after the tour for a cup of hot chocolate.

DIRECTIONS:  From downtown Petoskey, take Howard Street south. Just past Atkins Road, turn left into NCMC campus. Enter the first parking lot on the right PL3. Meet on the patio on the east side of the library.
