Special Film Showing!
Gifted Hands

After the last two years of pandemic living, many people are realizing that stress, isolation, and uncertainty have taken a toll on their well-being. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Friendship Centers is partnering with North Country Community Mental Health to raise awareness and educate the public about mental illnesses, the reality of living with these conditions, and strategies for attaining mental health and wellness.

Please join us in watching Gifted Hands, the 2009 biographical film about Ben Carson’s struggles in overcoming obstacles to study medicine and save lives at John Hopkins Hospital. The movie will be shown at the Petoskey Friendship Center on Monday, May 23 at 1:00 p.m. Following the movie, staff from the OBRA/Older Adult Services program of North Country Community Mental Health will be on hand to share in a discussion about the movie and how it relates to the mental health issues many of us have faced in the past two years.
