Senior Hike at Wildwood Harbor Preserve on Wednesday, October 6

Connor and Jac are back! Representing Walloon Lake Association and Conservancy, these two will lead us on another fun adventure on Wednesday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Wildwood Harbor Preserve. There are approximately two miles of trails, some bordering the north shore of Lake Evangeline with a small dock overlook, where you can check out unique flora in this area. This trail has some hills and is best suited to the more experienced hiker.

Directions:

From 131: Take M75 south 2.5 miles through Walloon Village to South Shore Drive. Turn right and go .2 mile to East Shadow Trail (turns into Wildwood Harbor Road). Turn left and go 2 miles. The preserve will be on the left.

From 31: Take Camp Daggett Road south 5.8 miles to Old Horton Bay Road. Turn left and go .5 miles. Continue straight to stay on Old Horton Bay Road and go .8 mile to Erickson Road. Turn left and go 1 mile to Wildwood Harbor Road. Turn left and preserve will be on right.

Senior Hike at Thorne Swift Nature Preserve on Wednesday, October 13

This one-and-a-half-mile guided walk on Wednesday, October 13 at 1:00 p.m. will be led by Little Traverse Conservancy Educator, Sarah Koetje. She will point out the beauty at Thorne Swift Nature Preserve, including 950 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline with a dune observation platform, as well the natural growth in this area.

Directions:

From Harbor Springs, take M-119 northwest 3.8 miles to Lower Shore Drive. Follow Lower Shore Drive for ½ mile. The preserve sign is on the left.

Senior Hike at Pond Hill Farm on Wednesday, October 27

Ever been on a gnome hunt? Join us on this fun one-and-a-half-mile walk at Pond Hill Farm on Wednesday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m., searching for the elusive gnomes. We may not find them all but we’ll certainly be able to check out their little homes. The trail can be muddy, so wear appropriate shoes.

Pond Hill Farm offers lunch and snacks in their café. Check out the animals in the barn. Shop for special treats in the market.

Directions:

Pond Hill Farms is located at 5699 South Lake Shore Drive, Harbor Springs. From downtown Harbor Springs, take 119 north (Tunnel of Trees) five miles and the farm will be on the right.
