Effective Communication Strategies
Taylor Cramer, Program Coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association covering the Northern MI Region, will be presenting Effective Communication Strategies on Thursday, January 23 at the Caregiver Support Group, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center. Explore how communication changes when someone is living with Alzheimer’s, learn how to interpret the verbal and behavioral communication, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease. This presentation will benefit Caregivers as well as their loved ones that may be struggling with Alzheimer’s or Dementia.

Cardio Drumming Demonstration
During Love Your Heart week, learn about this cardio drumming class with a presentation on Tuesday, February 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center. Cardio drumming gets your heart beating with a class every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.

Blood Pressure Medications
What is the best time of the day to take your blood pressure medications? Find out the answer to this and more with Dr. Dobies, Cardiologist with McLaren Northern Michigan during Love Your Heart week on Tuesday, February 11 at 12:30 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center.

Keep Your Loved Ones Safe
Physical Therapist, Mary Sullivan from Northern MI Sports Medicine Center, will discuss lifting, moving, and assisting elderly adults by using good body mechanics to reduce the likelihood of injury to yourself or the other person with a presentation at the Petoskey Friendship Center on Wednesday, February 12 at 12:30 p.m. during Love Your Heart week.

Tai Chi Presentation
Tai Chi will help to prevent falls, improve your mind, body, and spirit, reduce stress, and increase relaxation. Gretchen Stelter from MSU Extension will present information about an upcoming healthy for the heart Tai Chi class. Presentation will take place at the Petoskey Friendship Center on Thursday, February 13 at 12:30 p.m. during Love Your Heart week.

What’s New with Recycling?
Have all of your recycling questions answered by Kate Melby of Emmet County Recycling with a presentation on Wednesday, February 26 at 12:30 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center.
