Cooking for One
Cooking for one can be fun!
Over the course of six two-hour lessons, you will
- Learn ways to make cooking for yourself simple and enjoyable
- Discuss helpful tips and tricks to making healthy choices, like eating well and being active
- Practice planning and shopping strategies for healthy eating
Each lesson includes cooking a healthy recipe together and a food-tasting experience.
There is no charge to attend this series, but you must pre-register. This six-week program takes place at the Petoskey Friendship Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesdays from July 11 through August 15. Fall Prevention Program:
STEADI – Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths, and Injuries
How have falls among older adults (age 65+) affected you?
Have you or someone you know fallen?
What kind of life-changing events occurred because of the fall?
How could the fall have been prevented?
Get answers to these questions and learn more about the prevention of falls in this STEADI series. STEADI means Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths, and Injuries. The STEADI is an evidence-based program developed by Disease Control and Prevention. In this program, you will learn about the burden of falls, risk factors for falls, how you can prevent falls, and tips for implementing a fall prevention program. The program will provide a screening for fall risk, an assessment of fall risk factors, effective strategies to reduce fall risk, and tools and resources for preventing falls.
This three-week program takes place at the Petoskey Friendship Center from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Fridays, July 14, July 21, and July 28. It is presented by Sherri Engler, RN, BSN, CCRN, and Jane Poquette, MSN, RN, TCRN/CEN, EMTP.
