Stretches for Gardening Flexibility
Hooray gardening season is here! This presentation on National Senior Health & Fitness Day – Wednesday, May 25 – at 1:00 p.m. will get you ready for gardening. Learn some dynamic stretches to prepare your body for gardening and some static stretches for post gardening to reduce muscle soreness. Let’s get ready to hit the dirt!

Stroke Awareness Presentation and Screening
May is American Stroke Awareness Month. A Stroke Coordinator Nurse Clinician from McLaren Northern Michigan will provide a presentation about Stroke Awareness on Thursday, May 26 at 12:30 p.m. After the presentation, those interested are welcome to stay for a free stroke screening. The screening would include blood pressure, pulse, and a finger-prick blood test for cholesterol. Screenings are important for all older adults as early detection allows for early intervention and treatment, and could prevent a stroke from happening to you.
Flying Clovers Pigeon Loft Viewing and Liftoff!
Join us for this informative presentation on Thursday, June 16 at 1:00 p.m. with Emmet County 4H group, Flying Clovers. Members have their own lofts of homing pigeons, which can find their way home from hundreds of miles away. Learn about homing pigeons and how they race. Meet club members and their birds. View the “traveling” loft, where pigeons live. Watch as pigeons take flight from the Petoskey Friendship Center and head to their home lofts.
