Senior Golf Group

Friendship Center is now accepting registration for our golf program. This is a non-competitive golf group for ladies and gentlemen, age 60 and older, who enjoy the great game no matter the skill level. Our group plays Tuesdays and Thursdays at several local golf courses.

In addition, a pair of golf lessons are being offered at Petoskey Bay View Country Club the first week of May. You are invited to sign up for lessons only, golf only, or both.

Ways to register:
  • Mail in the registration form with a check payable to Friendship Centers of Emmet County.
  • Register with a credit card by phone at 231-347-3211.
  • Register in person at the Petoskey Friendship Center.

Once you are registered you are welcome to play as often as you like. You do need to request a tee time in advance whenever you would like to play.

TEE TIMES MUST BE SCHEDULED WEEKLY.

Please arrange a foursome and contact Lynn for an assigned tee time, or to be assigned to a foursome at 231-347-3211 ext 119  or [email protected]. You may request tee time for the following week as early as Monday the week prior. Contact Lynn no later than Friday for the following week.

Tee times will be scheduled at 1:00 pm or later in spring and fall, and at 9:30 am or later in summer. (June 6 tee times will start at 1:00 pm.)

If you need to cancel your tee time, please contact Lynn at your earliest convenience. If you are canceling the day of golf, please contact the golf course directly.

Greens fees are for 9 holes with a cart shared by two people. Individual carts may be available at an extra cost. Inquire at the golf course.

If you have any questions regarding the Friendship Center golf group, contact the Enrichment Director at 231-347-3211 ext. 119 or [email protected].

We will be organizing another end-of-season celebration. Stay tuned for details!

FCEC 2023 Golf Program Guidelines

The purpose of our golf program is to provide an opportunity for seniors to enjoy non-competitive golf, make new friends, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

¨ Please arrive at the course at least 20 minutes prior to tee time. Pay your greens fee and check in with the FCEC starter. Late arrivals will have to wait for an opening.

¨ Occasional unregistered senior guests/subs are required to pay $10 guest fee to Friendship Centers, in addition to greens fee.

¨ Dress code: Please refrain from wearing shirts without collars or blue jeans. Please show courtesy by honoring the guidelines established by the courses.

¨ In the event of bad weather, call the golf course or Friendship Center to check if play is canceled. A little rain will not stop us, but lightning may. If you are unsure, please call ahead.

Helpful Tips to keep play moving

  • Feel free to tee off at any set of tees. No shame in using the most forward tees.
  • Play ready golf by selecting your club and being ready to hit your ball when it is your turn.
  • If there is a faster group behind you, be considerate and allow them to play through.
  • Limit searching for lost balls to no more than a minute or two.
  • For safety’s sake, do not hit from a bad lie, such as a steep slope or near rocks. Toss your ball to a safer location.
  • Park carts to the right or left of the green so the following group has a view of the green.
  • Consider using double par as your highest score. If you reach that score on a given hole, pick up your ball.
