Senior Project Fresh
Friendship Centers of Emmet County will be distributing booklets of Project Fresh coupons to Emmet County seniors as part of the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program from June 11 through June 21. The program provides vouchers to income-eligible seniors, which can be redeemed for fresh, locally grown produce at area farmers markets, and provides a series of nutrition classes. Funding for this year's program was provided by the American House Foundation and U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Happy Independence Day!
All centers are closed on Wednesday, July 4th. Celebrate with us on Thursday, July 5 at the Petoskey and Pellston Friendship Centers.

Travel Adventures
Have you ever imagined what it's like to travel in Israel? Dave Schmidt is excited to share his experiences with you at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10 at the Petoskey Friendship Center.

Car Show and Famous Baked Chicken Dinner To Go
Drive up to the Petoskey Friendship Center on Wednesday, July 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to check out the classic cars on display. Then pick up your baked chicken dinner to go to enjoy for lunch at work or home. Our popular baked chicken dinners are $10.00 each and include potato salad, baked beans, biscuit and dessert. Pre-orders are encouraged by calling (231) 347-3211 or (888) 347-0369. Proceeds benefit services provided by the Council on Aging including Transportation, Congregate Meals, Meals on Wheels, In-Home Supportive Services, Health Services, Support Groups, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program. The event is open to the public.

Ping Pong

Ping Pong tables will be setup in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Petoskey Friendship Center for play at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5; Wednesday, July 11; Thursday, July 12; Wednesday, July 18; Thursday, July 19; and at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25. We hope you will join us for this fun and heart-healthy game. No experience is necessary.

Lavender Hill Farm Field Trip
The bus departs Petoskey Friendship Center at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18 for the Lavender Hill Farm located on Horton Bay Road. Enjoy two hours at the farm to explore the sights and aromas. While transportation and admission is free to those age 60 and older and their spouses, you may want to bring spending money for the golf cart tour or gift shop. If you wish to purchase Lunch in Lavender it must be done ahead of time on their website, https://lavenderhillfarm.com/lunch-in-lavender/. Contact the Enrichment Director at 231-347-3211 to sign up.

Mahjong Lessons for Beginners
A game of Chinese origin with domino-like tiles, Mahjong is played every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center. Learn how to play this game with free lessons on Wednesdays from July 18 to August 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sign-up for the lessons is limited to a maximum of 8 players. Call (231) 347-3211.

FCEC Theater
Join us at the Petoskey Friendship Center for a movie and popcorn. The Greatest Showman will be playing on Wednesday, July 25 at 1:00 p.m. Movie and popcorn is free to those age 60 and older and their spouses.

Healthy Eating
Dine with us for lunch on Monday, July 30 and afterward listen to a presentation by Kathleen Coveyou of Coveyou Scenic Farm Market about Healthy Eating Tips when Cooking for 1 or 2. You will also learn how to Double Up your SNAP benefits. The presentation will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center.


Cash Raffle
Tickets are on sale for the 18th Annual Cash Raffle. The final early bird drawing takes place on Wednesday, August 8. Winner will receive $150 and still be entered into the final drawings on Friday, September 7 for a chance to win $10,000 or several other cash prizes. Ticket price is $150 and only 250 tickets will be sold. Sponsors for this year's fundraiser are AdvisaCare, American House Senior Living Communities, Angel Heart Home Care, Bay Street Orthopaedics, Comfort Keepers, Independence Village, and Korthase Flinn Insurance & Financial Services.

Ceramics Painting
Create works of art with our painting groups. A ceramics group will be joining the regular painting group on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. at the Petoskey Friendship Center. A variety of items to paint will be available for purchase ranging from $5 to $10. Volunteer leader Melissa will provide all necessary painting supplies for the first session.

4th Annual Talent Show
Singers, Dancers, Magicians, Comedians, Musicians, and Poets... Whatever your talent, we need you for our 4th Annual Talent Show! We are looking for talented, mature performers ages 60 and older to entertain the audience on Thursday, August 16 at the FCEC Senior Talent Show at the Petoskey Friendship Center. Auditions are not necessary for this friendly and fun event. The show is open to the community and begins at 1:00 p.m.

Senior Walking Club
Do you enjoy walking, but don't want to go alone? Winter Weather Policy

If Petoskey Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Petoskey, Pellston, and Huber Centers will be closed and all services will be suspended at all locations. Meals on Wheels will not be delivered on these days.

If Pellston Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Pellston Center will be closed. If Petoskey Schools are open on this day, all other services will be operating as usual.

If either Pellston or Alanson Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Huber (Brutus) Center will be closed. If the Petoskey Schools are open on this day, all other services will be operating as usual.

Save Your Grocery Receipts

We appreciate grocery receipts from Oleson's Markets and D&W Fresh Markets. You may bring receipts into any one of our Centers or mail them to FCEC, 1322 Anderson Road, Petoskey, MI 49770. This is a great way to bring in additional dollars to support our programs.

Vial of Life

We feel that the Vial of Life is a most important program for protecting seniors. We are proud to offer Vial of Life decals and forms to the community.

We thank American Senior Safety Agency Medical Alert Systems for donating these decals to our organization.
